ArcelorMittal to invest €1.3bn in Dunkirk electric-arc furnace to cut CO2

ArcelorMittal confirmed a €1.3 billion investment to build a new electric arc furnace at its Dunkirk steelworks, aiming to start production in 2029 with a 2 million tonne capacity and roughly one-third the CO2 of blast-furnace steel. About 50% of the project financing will come from Energy Efficiency Certificates, and the company secured a long-term contract with EDF for low-carbon electricity. ArcelorMittal beats Q4 2025 earnings estimates despite declining revenues

ArcelorMittal reported Q4 2025 earnings per share of $0.86 (expectation $0.62) on revenue of $14.97bn (expectation $15.58bn). Full-year EBITDA was $6.5bn ($121/tonne), supported by operational efficiency and strategic investments.
