Virgin Wines reported a 5% sales increase for the Christmas trading period and a 40% rise in new customers. In the half-year to 2 January, revenue rose 2% to £34.7 million, while the overall online drinks market fell 11%. Warehouse Wines recorded a 92% sales increase, the corporate partnerships business grew in double digits, and acquisition costs remained stable. At the reporting date the company had gross cash of £17.9 million and net cash of £10.6 million; £2.7 million was spent on share buybacks. Virgin Wines has convened two general meetings for 10 December 2025 in which shareholders are to vote on continuing a share buyback programme. Management seeks approval to repurchase up to 7.15% of the issued share capital (about 4 million ordinary shares) and an exemption from Rule 9 to avoid a mandatory cash offer. The company reports cash resources of £10.3m, a debt-free balance sheet and says buybacks will be used to satisfy long-term incentive options and return excess cash; the independent directors recommend approval.
