Alstom wins contract worth more than €1.2 billion from TransPennine Express

Alstom has signed contracts worth over €1.2 billion with TransPennine Express to supply and maintain a new fleet of battery-electric trains for northern England. Around €930 million covers 29 five-car trains, about €230 million covers long-term maintenance agreements; the trains will be built in Litchurch Lane, Derby. Alstom to build 29 battery-powered trains in Derby for TransPennine Express

Alstom will build 29 Adessia Stream battery-powered trains at its Litchurch Lane works in Derby from 2028 for TransPennine Express, with service entry planned for 2034. The fleet is billed to cut journey times across northern routes, increase network capacity by about 30% over the next decade and run emission-free on non-electrified lines. Deutsche Bahn removes ICE Berlin–Paris from timetable for now due to Alstom fault

Deutsche Bahn has temporarily removed the direct ICE service between Berlin and Paris from the timetable. The reason are technical problems with the manufacturer's European train control system from Alstom, which the railway says it wants fixed immediately. Affected passengers have been informed and must now change trains in Frankfurt or Mannheim; there is no clear date for resumption.
