Santander buys 12.8 million of its own shares in buyback program
Banco Santander purchased 12.8 million of its own shares across several trading venues between Thursday and Tuesday at weighted average prices of €12.52 to €12.85 per share. With the purchases, the total amount invested in the buyback program rose to €468.98m, about 25.7% of the maximum volume, and the bank has repurchased roughly 18.2% of its outstanding shares (as of 2021). Banco Santander lowers share capital by €231.34 million
Banco Santander has completed a capital reduction of €231,341,569.50 by cancelling 462,683,139 treasury shares (about 3.08% of the share capital). The share capital now stands at €7,278,241,400.50, divided into 14,556,482,801 shares with a nominal value of €0.50. The measure was registered in the commercial register and follows a resolution of the executive committee and a notification to the regulator on 21 August 2026. Banco Santander acquired 12.8 million of its own shares between Sunday and Tuesday at weighted average prices between €12.6199 and €12.7146 per share, totaling around €161.98m. The purchases were made across several trading venues (including XMAD) and represent about 8.9% of the maximum volume of the buyback programme announced on 10 August 2026.
