Grindr pays £26m settlement after allegations of data sharing

Grindr denies the allegations but acknowledges the burden and loss of trust suffered by affected British users for a period before 2020 and points to a subsequent change in ownership. » More on n-tv.de
Grindr to pay £26m to settle UK lawsuit over alleged sharing of users' HIV status
Grindr agreed a £26m settlement with thousands of UK users who claimed the app shared highly sensitive data, including HIV status, with advertisers during a period before 2020. The claim, brought by law firm Austen Hays on behalf of about 12,000 people, would yield average compensation of around £2,167 per person if distributed equally. Grindr said the settlement involves no admission of liability, attributed the practices to the pre-2020 period under previous ownership, and will pay £13m by year-end and £13m by March 2027. » More on theguardian.com
