Lonza starts cooperation with Asimov for scalable manufacturing of lentiviral vectors
Lonza and US company Asimov agree a strategic collaboration to advance production of lentiviral vectors for in‑vivo applications. Asimov contributes cell line technologies; Lonza provides process development, upscaling, analytics and GMP manufacturing. The aim is to develop stable production systems and to optimize genetic sequences and processes up to clinical and commercial production. Lonza advances aseptic spray drying for high‑dose subcutaneous therapies
Lonza is developing an aseptic spray drying process at its Bend (USA) site to enable high‑concentration formulations of biologics such as monoclonal antibodies, antibody‑drug conjugates (ADCs) and peptides. Initial tests showed various antibodies and ADCs can be reliably spray dried, with the aim of creating new solutions for high‑dose subcutaneous applications. The process is intended to improve stability and reduce viscosity but still faces technical hurdles such as protein stability, sterile processing, formulation optimization and scaling to industrial production. Lonza appoints Samanta Cimitan as chief commercial officer
Lonza will appoint Samanta Cimitan as chief commercial officer, senior vice president and member of the extended executive committee no later than Jan. 1, 2027. Cimitan joins from Celonic, where she is currently CEO, and previously spent almost 13 years at Lonza in various strategy and sales roles.
