Microsoft plans massive expansion of data center capacity due to AI demand
Bloomberg reported that Microsoft plans to triple its data center capacity by 2032 from about 12 to more than 38 gigawatts, a figure the company spokesman Frank Shaw called incorrect. Despite the denial, Microsoft is pressing ahead with infrastructure investments: roughly $145 billion was spent on data centers, servers and infrastructure in the last fiscal year. Capacity constraints have already led to limited new cloud customers, customer churn to competitors like Oracle and outages at services such as GitHub, which is why Microsoft is accelerating the expansion. » More on deraktionaer.de
Microsoft plans massive expansion of its data center network by 2032
According to Bloomberg, Microsoft intends to more than triple its data center capacity by 2032, from around 12 to more than 38 gigawatts, including both owned and leased sites. The expansion is aimed at eliminating compute bottlenecks that have already forced the company to turn down orders in its AI and cloud business. The project could boost demand for AI and cloud processors and therefore affect chip suppliers such as Nvidia. Analysts expect further increases in capital spending after it reached $145 billion in the last fiscal year. » More on de.investing.com
