Barrick Mining delays IPO of North American gold business to 2027
Bloomberg reports that Barrick Mining is considering moving the planned IPO of its North American gold division from late 2026 to 2027. Mark Hill is expected to lead the North American unit after the IPO, while Sebastiaan Bock would become CEO of the remaining businesses; Barrick is working with Goldman Sachs and other banks on the transaction. Barrick has appointed Sebastiaan Bock, with immediate effect, as chief executive officer for its business outside North America. Bock will lead the gold and copper operations in Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and Asia‑Pacific and will report directly to Mark Hill. Barrick Mining invests CAD 20.9m in Kingfisher Metals
Barrick Mining subscribes for 15,470,934 units of Kingfisher Metals for a total of approximately CAD 20.9 million, bringing its holding to about 9.9% currently, diluting up to 14.1%. Each unit consists of one share and one-half warrant; a full warrant entitles the holder in two years to acquire an additional share at CAD 1.70. Barrick secures extensive participation and veto rights on projects and commits to certain voting behaviour; in return the company offers technical support for drilling programmes in the 2027/2028 seasons. Kingfisher intends to invest at least 80% of the proceeds in exploration and development of the HWY-37 project in the Golden Triangle.
