Canaan reported Q2 2026 revenue of about $32 million, below its $35M–$45M guidance, as weak mining economics, cautious customer spending and excess inventory pressured equipment sales and pricing. Mining generated roughly $18 million (55% of revenue) and the company mined 243 Bitcoin; cash rose to $66 million from $43 million after collections, tax refunds and tighter spending. Management forecast Q3 revenue of $11M–$15M, expects continued pricing pressure and cautious miner procurement, and is pursuing gigawatt-scale power sites, AI/HPC partnerships and compute-to-heat projects. Canaan has authorized the sale of part of its digital assets to finance buybacks of American Depositary Shares under the program approved in December 2025. The company holds about $130 million in digital assets and considers the stock to be trading below the combined value of those holdings and its cash. Future buybacks will depend on the ADS trading price, market conditions, working capital needs and board approvals. Canaan mined 64 Bitcoin in June; after deducting operating costs and BTC payments for sold miners, its net holdings rose by 49 BTC to 1,915 BTC. As of June 30 the company also held 3,952 ETH, the installed hashrate was 10.05 EH/s (excluding joint ventures) and the operational hashrate was 3.36 EH/s. Joint-venture facilities in West Texas recovered from disruptions, the North American fleet achieved 17.9 J/TH with average power costs of $0.043/kWh.
