  • SpaceX benefits from political headwinds against data centers through orbital computing

Evercore ISI sees growing bipartisan resistance to terrestrial data centers in the US, from which SpaceX’s orbital computing could emerge as an attractive alternative. SpaceX meets many requirements for land-based projects but remains exposed to local opposition and environmental concerns. If orbital computing is implemented successfully, the company could gain cost and market advantages and, according to Evercore, make additional terrestrial capacity unnecessary from 2029 onward. » More on de.investing.com

  • SpaceX commits $100 billion to build Starbase Louisiana spaceport

SpaceX will invest $100 billion to develop Starbase Louisiana on roughly 125,000 acres in Vermilion Parish, with construction starting in 2027 and a first launch targeted as early as 2029. The site is planned to include five launch facilities (each with two pads), over a dozen launch towers and infrastructure to support more than 30 Starship flights per day, propellant production, power generation and employee housing. Louisiana expects more than 3,000 direct jobs and about 8,100 indirect jobs; SpaceX accepted a tax payment agreement including $20 million upfront and at least $25 million annually for 25 years. The project complements SpaceX’s expanding Starship, satellite manufacturing and AI infrastructure network, and the property was formerly owned by Exxon Mobil. » More on finance.yahoo.com

Crown Castle highlights the advantages of existing tower infrastructure, and satellite direct-to-device is likely to remain a complement for rural areas rather than a substitute for terrestrial networks. » More on finanzen.net
