FDA approves Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine adapted to XFG variant

The FDA has authorized the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine adapted for the 2026/2027 season to the XFG variant. The approval applies to people aged 65 and older and to those aged 5 to 64 with at least one relevant underlying condition. Decisions were based on clinical, non-clinical and real-world data showing an immune response against currently circulating lineages, including XFG and related subvariants.
