AirAsia orders 150 Airbus A220-300 and becomes major customer for new 160-seat configuration

AirAsia has ordered 150 Airbus A220-300s, the largest single order for the A220 program, bringing total firm orders to over 1,000 aircraft. The airline is a new customer for the A220 and the launch customer for a new 160-seat cabin configuration with an additional overwing emergency exit. AirAsia plans to use the jets on routes within the ASEAN region and to Central Asia to serve longer sectors with larger aircraft. AirAsia orders 50 Airbus A321XLR long-haul jets

AirAsia has signed an agreement with Airbus to purchase 50 A321XLR long-haul jets and has also secured purchase options for 20 additional aircraft. The new planes will allow AirAsia to efficiently serve less frequented long-haul routes.
