Best Buy beats Q2 expectations, stock falls after vaguely worded outlook
Best Buy reported adjusted earnings of $1.47 per share (expectation $1.35) and revenue of $9.78 billion (expectation $9.54 billion). The company raised its full-year guidance, delivered positive same-store sales growth and strong online and business sales, but investors pushed the stock down about 6.5% premarket amid lingering uncertainty over cost pressures, tough compares and the sustainability of the sales momentum into the second half. Best Buy cited growth drivers in areas like computers, home theater, mobile phones and emerging categories and sees full-year revenue of $42.3–42.8 billion. » More on de.investing.com
Best Buy raises full-year outlook after stronger-than-expected Q2 as computing sales surge
Best Buy reported fiscal Q2 adjusted EPS of $1.47 and revenue of $9.78 billion, with comparable sales up 4.1% driven by strength in computing. The retailer raised full-year revenue guidance to $42.3–42.8 billion and now expects adjusted EPS of $6.70–6.90, citing a stronger-than-expected first half. Best Buy noted a $34 million gross profit benefit from tariff refunds, said customers remain value-focused, and flagged industry headwinds like tariffs and memory chip costs. Incoming CEO Jason Bonfig praised the turnaround and will take over Nov. 1 as the company pursues smaller stores and AI to improve the customer experience. » More on cnbc.com
Best Buy falls after double analyst downgrade
Shares of Best Buy fell about 3.0% in morning trading to $83.64 after BofA Securities cut its rating to “Underperform” with a $80 price target and Loop Kapital downgraded its view from “Buy” to “Hold” (price target $82). Loop Kapital cited ongoing concerns about the leadership change — including the arrival of CEO Jason Bonfig and the departure of CFO Matt Bilunas — as the reason for the downgrade. The price drop ran counter to the positive market trend and prompted investors to reassess the short‑term risk‑reward ahead of the quarterly report expected at the end of August. » More on de.investing.com
