BioStem Technologies shifts strategic focus to hospitals and surgery
At the Micro-Cap Conference, BioStem Technologies announced a transition from a wound‑care‑centered model to a regenerative medicine platform focused on hospitals and surgical applications. The company is shifting 87% of revenue to procedure‑based DRG reimbursements, expanding its sales team and GPO contracts, and raising its 2026 revenue guidance to $26–29 million. Q2 revenue rose sequentially to $7.9 million but remained lower year‑over‑year; gross margin and cash balance declined. A technology transfer planned for H1 2027 is intended to improve margins. BioStem is building clinical evidence in urology, foot/ankle surgery and orthopedics and plans vertical integration and geographic expansion. » More on de.investing.com
BioStem misses Q4 2025 forecasts badly, stock falls
BioStem reported Q4 2025 EPS of -$0.39 (forecast $0.02) and revenue of $10.1 million versus expected $55.2 million, after which the stock fell 6.74% to $5.49. The revenue decline is attributed to changed Medicare reimbursement policies and weaker physician-practice business; operating expenses rose due to large allowances for doubtful accounts. The company reports an improved gross margin of 97%, points to the acquisition of BioTissue and plans for product launches and an FDA approval in 2026, but still expects continued cash outflows. » More on de.investing.com
BioStem Technologies: CMS withdraws planned coverage restrictions for skin substitute transplants
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) have withdrawn all seven planned local coverage determinations for skin substitute transplants and tissue-based products to treat diabetic foot and venous leg ulcers that were to take effect on January 1, 2026. BioStem Technologies does not expect this to affect patient access or its ability to serve patients and physicians, and continues to emphasize the importance of high-quality clinical evidence. The company plans to continue investing in clinical data to support its BioRetain processing technology and reports a strong balance sheet with a current ratio of 4.31. » More on de.investing.com
