FDA accelerates approval for Bristol Myers Squibb drug Zenbexus for multiple myeloma
The FDA granted Bristol Myers Squibb accelerated approval for Zenbexus (iberdomid) in combination with daratumumab (with hyaluronidase) and dexamethasone for the treatment of adult patients with multiple myeloma after at least one prior therapy. Zenbexus is the first approved cereblon‑modulating protein degrader; the decision is based on the Phase 3 EXCALIBER‑RRMM study, in which 41% of patients treated with the combination achieved a complete remission without minimal residual disease versus 21% in the control arm (median follow‑up 16 months). The approval is conditional on confirmatory trials that will evaluate, among other endpoints, progression‑free survival. Key safety information includes embryofetal toxicity, thromboembolic risks, a REMS program, a high rate of serious adverse events (58.3%) and pronounced neutropenia (90.2%); 4.9% of patients experienced fatal adverse events. Bristol Myers Squibb is also developing mezigdomid, with an FDA decision targeted for May 13, 2027. » More on de.investing.com
