BAT to push shift to nicotine-based alternatives and offers Germany a factory
BAT Germany chief Blagoje Jovanovic says the company will restructure its business from traditional cigarettes toward e-cigarettes, heated tobacco products and nicotine pouches, aiming for half of global revenue in these categories by 2035. He calls for regulation of nicotine pouches in Germany and, in return, offers to build a factory and create new jobs, which he says would also generate around €500 million in tax revenue. BAT acknowledges reduced investment in Glo, plans to improve the product and is currently placing greater emphasis on the Vuse e-cigarette; the company intends to make disposable vapes adaptable with replaceable batteries by 2027. » More on t-online.de

BAT Germany chief warns of tax shock and reinforces focus on smoke-free products
Blagoje Jovanovic, BAT’s Germany chief since May, is betting on heated tobacco, e‑cigarettes and nicotine pouches to push classic cigarettes back over the long term, not to eliminate nicotine entirely. He criticizes the federal government’s planned drastic tobacco tax increases as an economic stimulus for the black market and warns of sharply rising tax losses from cross-border trade and smuggling. Jovanovic offers to engage in dialogue with government experts and emphasizes BAT’s transformation strategy as well as past production relocations and workforce developments in Germany. » More on t-online.de
