Alluvium buys Copart despite long-term autonomous driving risk
Alluvium Asset Management's Conventum – Alluvium Global Fund disclosed a new position in Copart, highlighting the company’s scale as an online vehicle auction platform and strong historical growth and returns. The fund noted Copart operates in a duopoly with limited domestic growth potential and identified two key risks: declining accident rates from autonomous driving and an increasing share of collisions classified as total losses. Despite these structural risks, Alluvium found valuation and financial metrics compelling enough to initiate the position. » More on finance.yahoo.com
Copart offers $10.50 per share for ACV Auctions, stock jumps 49%
Copart’s subsidiary launched an all-cash tender offer to buy all ACV Auctions shares for $10.50 each, valuing the deal at about $1.9 billion and representing a roughly 45% premium to ACV’s pre-announcement close. The transaction is subject to acquisition of a majority stake and regulatory waiting periods and is expected to close by year-end. Following the offer Needham downgraded ACV to hold, saying the bid is fair and a competing offer is unlikely. ACV reported wider Q2 net losses but 10.4% revenue growth to $213.9 million and saw hedge fund holdings by value rise despite fewer funds holding the stock. » More on finance.yahoo.com
Copart to acquire ACV Auctions for about $1.9 billion
Copart is offering $10.50 per share in cash, paying about $1.9 billion for ACV Auctions, a premium of roughly 45% over the previous price. The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2026 and will be fully financed from existing cash on hand. The goal is to build a digital remarketing platform by combining ACV’s dealer-to-dealer technology with Copart’s physical infrastructure; Copart expects the acquisition to be accretive to earnings per share from 2028. Risks remain regulatory reviews, shareholder approval and the successful integration of the business models; additionally, ACV is currently still loss-making. » More on finanzen.net
