Berlin court reduces GDPR fine against Deutsche Wohnen to €900,000
The Berlin regional court drastically reduced the fine imposed in 2019 by the Berlin data protection authority on Deutsche Wohnen from €14.5 million to €900,000. The court did find a violation of the General Data Protection Regulation but judged it less severe because the company cooperated and was working on a technical solution. The authority had criticized that between May 2018 and March 2019 adequate deletion measures for tenant data no longer needed were not in place. Deutsche Wohnen increases profit thanks to higher rents and development business
The Vonovia subsidiary Deutsche Wohnen reported an adjusted EBITDA from continuing operations of just under €568 million in the first nine months, up 16 percent. Drivers were higher rents and the development business; the average cold rent rose to €8.23 per square metre by the end of September (+4.1% year on year). At the bottom line there was a profit of just over €1 billion, after a loss of around €256 million had been recorded in the previous year. Deutsche Wohnen lifts ban on Telekom representatives in 130,000 apartments
The real estate group Deutsche Wohnen has lifted after four months its ban on representatives of Deutsche Telekom entering around 130,000 apartments, saying that, according to its own statements, no new complaints have been received. Deutsche Telekom says it has retrained its sales partners and is planning coordinated direct-sales attempts with the landlord; the partner Ranger was named specifically. » More on welt.de
