Elevance Health raises full-year EPS outlook after Q2 profit of $1.45 billion
Elevance Health reported second-quarter net income of $1.45 billion ($6.71 per share), a year-over-year decline, as its benefit expense ratio rose to 89.7% due to elevated medical costs in government businesses. Revenue grew 1.4% to $50.47 billion and membership fell to 44.9 million. Strong operating performance and favorable benefit expense trends prompted the company to raise 2026 adjusted EPS guidance to at least $27.00 and its full-year EPS outlook to at least $20.10 per share. Management highlighted disciplined execution, improved individual ACA results, and increased investment in medical cost management and Carelon services. » More on forbes.com
Margin pressure at Elevance Health cuts margins and sends insurer shares tumbling
Elevance Health reported Q2 2026 revenue rising to $50.47 billion and adjusted EPS of $7.45, but the operating margin in its Health Benefits segment fell from 5.0% to 3.6%. The stock lost 6.7% in premarket trading after it emerged the result was supported by a oneâoff item of $0.80 per share and the core business is under significant pressure. Operating income in the Health Benefits segment nearly halved, membership slipped slightly to 44.95 million, and analysts expect declining revenues. Margin concerns also weighed on shares across the industry, including UnitedHealth, Molina, Humana, Centene and CVS. » More on de.investing.com
Elevance Health falls pre-market despite earnings and revenue beat amid margin pressure
Elevance Healthâs stock fell about 7.5% pre-market, even though the company beat revenue and earnings estimates and slightly raised its full-year guidance. The main driver of the decline is shrinking operating margins (from 4.9% to 3.5%) and a deterioration in the adjusted operating margin, caused by higher claims costs in the Medicaid business and declining membership. Analysts had raised price targets ahead of the report, but investors want clearer signs of margin stabilization before they accept the higher valuation. » More on de.investing.com
