GATX amends credit facility with lower margins and one-year extension as analysts raise target

GATX amended its ongoing five-year credit arrangement, extending the termination date to May 2031 and reducing margins on ABR- and SOFR-based borrowings as well as the facility fee to lower recurring financing costs and increase financial flexibility. The changes reset margin grids and decrease the facility fee, improving borrowing economics tied to the company’s credit rating. Susquehanna raised its price target to $218 and maintained a Positive rating following first-quarter results. GATX reports strong Q1 driven by rail lease rate gains and ahead‑of‑schedule Wells Fargo fleet integration

GATX said Q1 performance was led by steady Rail North America demand and a 22.3% Lease Price Index increase on renewals, with the Wells Fargo fleet integration ahead of schedule and ~300 new customer accounts added. The company realized $50 million of asset disposition gains in the quarter and expects roughly $200 million of disposition gains for 2026, including $70 million from the joint venture. Full‑year EPS guidance is unchanged, with the Wells Fargo JV expected to contribute $0.20–0.30 and maintenance expense forecast at about $500 million.
