Ginkgo Bioworks launches cloud-based autonomous lab platform
Ginkgo Bioworks has introduced the Ginkgo Cloud Lab platform, a web-based interface for remote access to its modular, robot-assisted lab infrastructure with over 70 instruments. The platform uses reconfigurable automation carts, maglev tracks and an AI agent called EstiMate that reviews protocols written in natural language and provides pricing and compatibility information. The rollout is intended as part of the 2026 strategy to shift research and development services to the autonomous lab Nebula and to replace traditional lab benches with robotic infrastructure.
