Hyundai Motor share falls after earnings miss and fading robotics hopes
Hyundai Motor reported record Q2 2026 revenue of 49.2 trillion KRW but an operating profit of 2.9 trillion KRW (-20.8%), missing the LSEG-SmartEstimate forecast of 3.2 trillion. The operating margin fell from 7.5% to 5.8% and the company warned it may miss its annual sales target. Hyundai share rises to record high on AI and robotics strategy
Hyundai’s share climbed about 14.6% to 549,000 KRW, hitting a new all-time high; year-to-date the gain is around 85%. Drivers are investor hopes for the “Physical AI” strategy, notably humanoid robots and autonomous driving technologies. Hyundai subsidiary Boston Dynamics demonstrated the robot Atlas, and Hyundai plans an annual capacity of 30,000 robots in Georgia by 2028. Hyundai Motor hits record high after US tariff cut for Korean cars
Hyundai Motor shot up to a record high on the Seoul exchange and rose sharply for a fourth consecutive trading day, this time by 11 percent. The rally in the South Korean auto sector is being driven mainly by the reduction of US tariffs on Korean vehicles and auto parts from 25 to 15 percent.
