KakaoBank reports record profit and strong H1 growth

KakaoBank posted a 24% rise in net profit in the first half of 2026 to a record high, supported by a 21% increase in interest income and a 92% rise in fee and platform income. Net interest margin improved in Q2 to 2.13% (up 13 basis points quarter-on-quarter). Deposits fell temporarily in Q2 but returned to growth in July; loan volume and the customer base continued to expand.
