Marston’s increases like-for-like sales over Christmas by 4.0%
British pub operator Marston’s reports a strong Christmas trading period with like‑for‑like sales up 4.0% and growth of 5.6% across the five main holidays. For the 17‑week period to 24 January, like‑for‑like sales are broadly in line with the prior year and outperform the overall market. Marston’s reports strong margin and profit growth and beats expectations
Marston’s recorded strong adjusted pre-tax profit growth for the 52 weeks to 27 September, beating market expectations. Like-for-like (space-adjusted) revenue rose 1.6%, and refurbished pubs delivered average sales increases of 23%. The adjusted EBITDA margin is expected to increase by more than 100 basis points, the recurring free cash flow target of £50m was exceeded ahead of schedule, and net debt was below 5x EBITDA at year end.
