Merck climbs to record high after positive phase-3 data for personalized mRNA cancer therapy
Merck reported Q2 revenue growth but recorded a net loss due to a one-time R&D charge from the acquisition of Terns. Together with Moderna, Merck released positive phase-3 results for a personalized mRNA therapy in resected melanoma that significantly delayed recurrence and distant metastases. Merck reaches 52-week high after positive phase-3 result for cancer vaccine
Merck's stock rose about 3.4% in the morning to $154.03 and reached a new 52-week high of $154.49. The catalyst was the phase-3 data from the INTerpath-001 trial of Intismeran Autogen, a personalized mRNA vaccine against melanoma, which met the primary endpoint of recurrence-free survival and a key secondary endpoint of distant-metastasis-free survival in high-risk patients. The combination of Intismeran with Keytruda showed significantly better efficacy than Keytruda alone.
