Mirion records 42% jump in orders in first quarter thanks to nuclear demand
Mirion reported Q1 2026 revenue of $257.6 million (+27.5%) and a 42% increase in order intake (organic +19%), lifting the backlog to $1.1 billion. Adjusted EBITDA rose to $54.3 million, but the EBITDA margin fell by 200 basis points to 21.1%, mainly due to dilutive acquisition effects and an unfavorable product mix. Adjusted free cash flow fell to $11 million because of working-capital timing on large nuclear projects; management views this as a quarterly low and confirmed the full-year guidance for revenue and margin growth. Mirion Technologies significantly expands SMR business after acquisition of Paragon
Mirion Technologies strengthens its position in small modular reactors (SMR) by acquiring Paragon for USD 585 million, which JP Morgan says substantially increases SMR revenue potential and makes the nuclear energy segment about 45% of revenue. The acquisition adds customers such as NuScale, Kairos Power and Aalo, is expected to generate annual cost synergies of around USD 10 million and to boost EPS by USD 0.02–0.03 by 2026. JP Morgan sees SMR revenue potential of over USD 1 billion based on current partnerships and projects revenues between roughly USD 900 million and USD 2.3 billion by 2050 depending on the scenario; management targets an adjusted EBITDA margin of 30% by 2028.
