ORIX reports record net profit in Q1 2027 and changes dividend policy

ORIX posted a record net profit of JPY 280.8 billion in the first quarter, driven by valuation gains related to Kioxia and stronger results in asset management, transportation equipment and insurance. Adjusted profit was JPY 159.1 billion; the company left its full-year net profit forecast unchanged at JPY 530 billion. ORIX said it will calculate dividends based on adjusted profit rather than total profit going forward to make payouts less susceptible to Kioxia-related swings. Orix buys 1.69 million shares back at end of May for 10.57 billion yen

Orix repurchased 1,693,600 common shares through market transactions between 22 and 31 May for a total price of 10,574,598,800 yen. The buyback was made under a board resolution dated 11 May authorizing up to 100 million shares (about 9.1% of outstanding shares) and a maximum purchase amount of 250 billion yen. Orix: Toshiba's annual results with Kioxia gains will affect group profit

Orix said that Toshiba's financial statements for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026, show gains of 2.277 billion yen related to Kioxia. Through TB Investment Limited Partnership, Orix holds an equity-method stake in Toshiba, so these gains are likely to appear in Orix's consolidated profit for the first quarter of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2027.
