Failed merger with Puig sends Estée Lauder shares sharply higher
Estée Lauder shares rose about 10% in morning trading after the company and Puig mutually ended their merger talks. Estée Lauder said it will continue to focus on the turnaround strategy "Beauty Reimagined," emphasizing premium product launches and supply‑chain optimization. Analysts and investors welcomed the split, fearing a tie‑up would have brought integration risks, balance‑sheet burdens and distracted from the restructuring program. Recently raised full‑year guidance and plans to cut up to 3,000 jobs further supported the recovery story. » More on de.investing.com
Puig stock plunges after failed merger talks with Estée Lauder
Puig’s share fell 13.9% to €15.19 after Estée Lauder and Puig ended merger talks that had been ongoing since March on May 21. The deal could have created a luxury cosmetics group worth around $40 billion; confidentiality leaks and the renegotiation of the Charlotte Tilbury contract complicated the discussions. Estée Lauder rose more than 10% in after-hours trading, while the sell-off hit Puig harder because the stock has been under pressure since its 2024 IPO and is approaching the lower end of its 52-week range. » More on de.investing.com
Puig meets Q1 revenue forecast despite currency headwinds
Puig Brands reported net sales of €1.215 billion for Q1 2026, reported growth of 0.8% and like‑for‑like growth of 4.7%, thereby meeting analysts' forecasts. The company highlighted strength in the premium beauty segment and said currency weakness, particularly of the US dollar, had dampened reported growth. The stock was unchanged at €17.57, and Puig expects a stable adjusted EBITDA margin of around 20.7% through cost discipline, targeted investments, product launches and expansion in APAC. » More on de.investing.com
