UBS upgrade drives SolarEdge shares: FCC rule strengthens US supplier

UBS upgrades SolarEdge from "Neutral" to "Buy" and raises the price target from $36 to $42, backed by raised EBITDA estimates for 2027 and 2028. The bank cites the FCC rule, which places new, foreign-made inverters on the "Covered List" and is therefore likely to tighten supply and give US-focused suppliers like SolarEdge significant pricing power and market-share gains. SolarEdge stock plunges over 20% after Q2 results and weak Q3 outlook

SolarEdge reported Q2 revenue up 19.6% to $346 million and adjusted EPS of $0.05. Adjusted gross margin improved to 28.6%, but free cash flow fell to $3.1 million. The Q3 outlook of $310–340 million (market expectation $367 million) and an expected gross margin of 22–26% triggered the stock slide of more than 20%.
