Takashimaya: domestic sales grow, overall operating profit weighed down by decline in tourism

Takashimaya reported for H1 FY2025 a consolidated operating revenue of 487.2 billion yen (−3.9% year-on-year) and an operating profit of 23.7 billion yen (−5.1%), with both figures slightly above the June forecasts. The company introduced the metric “business profit” and emphasized a focus on ROIC and capital efficiency. Domestic sales rose 2%, while sales from international tourists plunged 29%, especially from visitors from China, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Takashimaya revised its full-year operating profit forecast up by 2.5 billion yen, plans to continue selling non-core assets, and is investing in its store business, commercial real estate and financial services to strengthen profitability. » More on de.investing.com
