Viatris beats Q2 expectations and raises full-year outlook

Viatris receives FDA approval for once-weekly contraceptive patch Gwyn Lo
The FDA has approved Gwyn Lo, a once-weekly contraceptive patch from Viatris containing norelgestromin and ethinylestradiol. The patch is intended for women of childbearing potential with a BMI under 30 kg/m² and delivers 220 mcg norelgestromin and 20 mcg ethinylestradiol per day. Approval was based on the Phase III Luminous study, which showed a Pearl Index of 4.14 and complete detachment of only 1.3% of applied systems. Common side effects included application-site reactions, irregular and heavy withdrawal bleeding, and nausea; Gwyn Lo is contraindicated in smokers over 35 and in women with BMI ≥30 kg/m².
