Workday rises as slower frontier AI gives incumbents more time to monetise agents
Workday shares jumped after broader AI fears eased, as the company reported August-quarter revenue of $2.649 billion, up 12.8%, with subscription revenue up 13.9%. Management said AI accounted for more than 25% of new annual contract value and over 5,500 customers are using at least one organic agent. Workday still guides fiscal 2027 subscription growth of about 13%, leaving room for AI-driven adoption to accelerate durable revenue growth. Short interest and reduced hedge fund holdings mean changes in the AI disruption narrative can materially affect the stock. » More on finance.yahoo.com

Workday's AI sales boost revenue and margins but guidance signals slower growth
Workday reported fiscal Q2 revenue of $2.65 billion, beating expectations, with subscription revenue up 13.9% and non-GAAP operating margin widening to 31.1%. Management said AI products accounted for over 25% of new annual contract value and drove more than $100 million in new ACV, approaching $600 million in ARR, while the 12-month subscription backlog rose to $9.03 billion. Despite strong AI monetization, Workday guided fiscal 2028 subscription revenue growth of roughly 11%, and warned AI adoption is currently more substitutive than purely incremental, adding uncertainty to near-term revenue conversion. Investors should watch whether AI usage translates into durable incremental demand to sustain growth. » More on finance.yahoo.com
