Waymo is starting field tests with Zeekr’s Ojai minibus initially in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Phoenix, with later expansion to cities such as Denver, Las Vegas and San Diego. The vehicles are built by Zeekr in China and converted into autonomous taxis in Mesa, Arizona. The Ojai is the first model with the sixth generation of the Waymo Driver and is intended to enable fully autonomous operation, but it retains a steering wheel and manual controls.
