  • Zurich boosts profit sharply and targets acquisition of Beazley

Zurich reports strong growth for H1 2026: operating profit rises 13% to just under $4.8bn and net profit climbs 14% to $3.5bn. Drivers are specialty insurance, retirement products and construction insurance for data centres and energy infrastructure. CEO Mario Greco is seeking the roughly $11bn purchase of Beazley to strengthen the specialty insurance business and expects regulatory decisions in the coming months. In Switzerland, a proceeding by the Financial Market Supervisory Authority is underway against Zurich’s life unit; management has taken measures, Greco said. » More on finanzen.net

  • Zurich Insurance share falls despite record operating profit after disappointing Farmers result

Zurich Insurance shares dropped about 2.8% even though operating profit for the first half of 2026 reached a record $4.8bn and net income attributable to shareholders rose to $3.49bn. Investors took profits ("sell the news") after the Farmers segment missed expectations with $1.18bn, tempering the strength in other areas. Market conditions and the integration risk from the planned acquisition of Beazley also weighed on sentiment. » More on de.investing.com

  • Zurich falls after half-year results

Zurich’s stock fell about 2.1% in early trading, continuing a correction that began in July. Landesbank Baden-Württemberg criticized the high valuation and called the investment portfolio unusually risky; it also expects margin-pressuring effects from a cyclical tariff downturn in the motor/claims business. » More on finanzen.net
