Dynavax has entered a worldwide exclusive license agreement with Vaxart to develop and commercialize Vaxart’s oral COVID-19 vaccine, paying an upfront $25m plus a $5m equity stake. Vaxart remains responsible for development until completion of the ongoing Phase‑2b study; Dynavax may assume further development at the end of 2026 for an additional $50m. Milestone payments to Vaxart could total up to $620m, plus royalties on future sales; the Phase‑2b trial with about 5,400 participants is funded under Project NextGen.
