FirstGroup has completed the first tranche of its up to £100m share buyback programme: RBC Europe Limited acquired 13,553,662 ordinary shares for an aggregate consideration of £24,806,895, which are now held as treasury shares. The FirstGroup share climbed 5.2% to 183.63p after full-year results for the year to 28 March 2026 showed a marked earnings jump from rising passenger numbers and improved margins at First Bus and First Rail. Management had already signalled positive trends in the trading update and announced a review of the share buyback programme. All analysts recommend buy with a consensus target of around 250p, leaving the stock still below its 52-week high of 240.4p.
