LanzaTech has chosen the North Sea Port in Ghent, Belgium, as the site for a commercial plant to produce sustainable aviation fuel using the alcohol-to-jet process. FEED is largely complete, the site is secured, and letters of intent for feedstock supplies and offtake agreements are in place; an environmental impact assessment will be applied for and the final investment decision is still pending. The FLITE project is supported by Horizon 2020 funding and is expected to create around 50 permanent jobs and an average of 300 full-time equivalents during the three-year construction period.
