Avanza Bank: strong Q2 with record customer inflows drives profit and stock

Avanza Bank reported a significantly stronger second-quarter performance with an operating profit of SEK 928 million (SEK 709 million a year earlier), net profit of SEK 795 million (SEK 600 million) and higher revenues of SEK 1.33 billion (SEK 1.06 billion). Increased trading activity, record customer inflows and a broader revenue mix offset rising costs. CEO Gustaf Unger described the result as a 'further record quarter'; analysts raised their price targets and the share rose intraday to SEK 390, close to the 52-week high of SEK 407.5. Avanza Bank reports a record operating result of SEK 879 million for Q1 2026 and a net profit increase of 21% versus Q4 2025. Total income rose 9% year‑on‑year, return on equity was 40% and the leverage ratio 4.2%. At the same time, margins in the brokerage and fund businesses narrowed and the expiry of external savings accounts is weighing on net inflows. Expansion plans in Denmark weigh on Avanza share

The Avanza share fell around 2.3% (later up to 5%) after the announcement of expansion plans for Denmark. SEB analyst Andreas Håkansson sees rising ongoing costs and expects profitability to be reached only in about five years.
