BCI Minerals says at the Noosa Mining Conference that its salt project in Western Australia is 85% complete and first deliveries are expected in the first quarter of 2027. The company reports A$435 million in liquidity, says it does not need external funding and expects to be operationally cash-flow positive from September 2027. Nine evaporation ponds are operational, salt crystallization is underway and 86,000 tonnes of salt are already in the crystallization ponds. Target capacity is 5.35 million tonnes of salt and 140,000 tonnes of potassium sulphate (SOP) per year; the project is expected to become Australia’s largest solar salt producer. The Cape Preston West port is over 94% finished; the company is targeting the first salt shipment by December 2026. BCI expects annual production of up to 5.35 million tonnes of industrial salt and 140,000 tonnes of SOP, has secured offtake agreements for 62% of production in the first three years, and sees sufficient funds (AUD 601 million) for remaining construction costs (estimated at AUD 400 million).
