A growing number of US insurers, including Optum/United Behavioral Health, have allowed psychiatric nurse practitioners in full-practice states since the end of 2025 to prescribe, supervise and administer transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) for commercial plans covering about 34.8 million enrollees.
