iBio starts phase‑1 study for obesity drug IBIO-600 after TGA approval

The Australian drug regulator TGA and an ethics committee have approved iBio’s first clinical phase‑1 trial of the monoclonal antibody IBIO-600; the randomized, double‑blind, placebo‑controlled single‑ascending‑dose study will assess safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics in overweight and obese adults. iBio plans to administer the first dose in Q2 2026. IBIO-600 targets myostatin and GDF11, is intended to preserve lean mass and could be used alongside GLP‑1 therapies; preclinically the drug showed a half‑life of 40–52 days and a dose‑dependent increase in lean mass. Private placement secures Ibio about $26 million and boosts stock

Ibio raised about $26 million in a private placement led by Frazier Life Sciences by selling 11,061,738 common shares at $2.35 each; closing is expected on January 13, 2026.
