Lindian Resources has purchased the remaining 49% of the hydrometallurgical SARECO plant in Stepnogorsk and is now sole owner. The total purchase price is US$20 million and includes two industrial facilities totaling 15,500 m² as well as additional land. Commissioning of the plant is planned for Q4 2026 and is intended to coincide with first production from the Kangankunde rare earth project; ANSTO validated a metallurgical NdPr recovery of 96%. Lindian Resources starts construction in Malawi and moves into production phase
Lindian Resources has initiated the transition from developer to producer: construction of the Kangankunde mine in Malawi is underway, first production is scheduled for Q4 2024, and all committed construction works are fully financed with AUD 191.5 million. The company owns a downstream SARECO plant in Kazakhstan (acquisition cost AUD 15 million) and a 15-year offtake agreement with Iluka for 6,000 tonnes of monazite concentrate per year. Management highlights low capital intensity (about AUD 25/kg NdPr capacity), strong economics (NPV AUD 831 million, IRR 80%) and a large resource with over 1 million tonnes of NdPr in the deposit. Stage 2 aims to expand capacity to 120,000 tonnes/year and is expected to receive the final investment decision by the end of 2024. » Plus sur de.investing.com
