Telekom subsidiary 1&1 cut its EBITDA forecast for 2026 from €800 million to €740 million because of a restructuring program at business-customer unit Versatel. The program foresees reductions in organization, processes and personnel, with headcount set to fall from around 1,350 to about 1,000, triggering one-off operational expenses of roughly €60 million this year. The 1&1 share rose by up to 6.5% to €20.30 on Tuesday morning after it emerged that United Internet and CEO Ralph Dommermuth had placed a buy order for up to 6 million 1&1 shares with a term until 30 June 2027. The order is to be executed under market-friendly conditions and signals that United Internet intends to raise its current 86.46% stake to around 90% in the medium term, potentially enabling a squeeze-out of minority shareholders.
