Deutsche Bahn has temporarily removed the direct ICE between Berlin and Paris from the timetable due to technical problems with Alstom’s European train protection system. After years of delay, the BVG’s 50-meter tram “Urbanliner,” built by Alstom, is in regular service on line M4 starting today. Additional vehicles will be delivered step by step; 15 trains should be in service by the end of the year and a total of 30 by the end of 2028. Delays were caused by disagreements with the approval authority, particularly over weight and the retrofitting of supports around Alexanderplatz; the approval currently applies only to line M4.
