Chinese plans to impose export restrictions on certain solar technologies are weighing on the solar industry and have recently put pressure on the SMA Solar share price. SMA manufactures inverters in Kassel and benefits from EU and US import restrictions on Chinese inverters, but since May 2026 it has been linked with Chinese supplier Hyperstrong on storage systems. The new export limits could affect the cooperation with Hyperstrong; SMA plans to comment on possible impacts in its Q3 figures on November 12. SMA Solar has seen a marked recovery since October 2025; the stock has more than doubled. In the first half of 2026, incoming orders rose to around €1.75 billion and the company raised its full-year forecast, confirming the operational recovery. SMA Solar has opened an €80m manufacturing plant with over 60 GW of annual capacity to handle strong incoming orders. As of 30 June the order backlog stood at around €1.8bn versus €1.2bn a year earlier, driven mainly by storage solutions. For 2026 the company targets revenue of €1,625–1,725m; after H1 revenue of €686.6m, roughly €1bn is still needed.
