Telesat beats revenue forecast, widens loss and increases Lightspeed investments

Telesat reported revenue of $79.49 million in Q2, significantly beating analysts' estimates. Adjusted loss, however, rose to $10.89 per share, driven mainly by a revaluation of Lightspeed warrants and currency effects on debt. The company raised its Lightspeed investment forecast for 2026 to CAD 1.3–1.5 billion and expanded the constellation to 225 satellites, saying it has secured financing through commercial launch in 1Q2028. Telesat provides satellite capacity for disaster relief in Venezuela

Telesat said its subsidiary Top Comunications is providing capacity from the satellite Telstar 19 VANTAGE to support communications restoration after the earthquakes in Venezuela. The capacity is intended to help government agencies, first responders and mobile operators with emergency coordination and infrastructure recovery. Telesat reports Q1 loss well above expectations and shares fall in premarket trading

Telesat posted a net loss of CAD 151 million in the first quarter of 2026 and earnings per share of -CAD 3.04, far missing estimates of -CAD 0.88. Revenue was CAD 87 million, beating expectations, while the GEO segment recorded a 26% decline in revenue. The stock fell 7.94% in premarket trading.
