China Unicom shares plunge after profit decline and interim dividend cancelled

China Unicom shares fell 8.6% to HK$5.73 after the company reported a sharp drop in half‑year profit and the cancellation of the interim dividend. Net profit attributable to the parent fell about 34.8% to RMB 4.1bn, while total profit declined roughly 36.6% to RMB 11.2bn. Core business revenues dipped slightly to RMB 178bn; VAT effects and timing shifts in personnel investments were cited as reasons. China Unicom integrates domestic AI chips at the Sanjiangyuan data center

The Sanjiangyuan data center of China Unicom has signed contracts to deploy AI chips from several Chinese suppliers, including T‑Head (Alibaba), Biren Technology, MetaX and Zhonghao Xinying. The switch to China‑made AI chips was presented during Premier Li Qiang’s visit to Qinghai.
