At the Barclays conference Freshpet presented its strategy against growing competition: market entries by large manufacturers validated the category but did not harm the business model. The company uses a network of 39,000 refrigerators as the core of its omnichannel and online order fulfillment and is rolling out new production technologies to increase throughput, yields and capital efficiency. Freshpet shares rose about 7.6% premarket after the company reported Q2 2026 results that beat market expectations. Analysts had forecast revenue growth of roughly 10.3% to $291.9 million and EPS of around $0.22; upside surprises and a recent price-target raise from JPMorgan supported the rally. Freshpet co-founder and president Scott Morris will transition to an advisory role on 20 October and remain available to the company for 18 months. COO Nicki Baty will succeed him as president while keeping her COO responsibilities and reporting to CEO Billy Cyr. Morris’ innovation duties will move to a new chief innovation officer role as part of a multi-year succession plan timed with Freshpet’s 20th anniversary.
