Murphy Oil is shifting its focus from Malaysia to a mix of US shale (Eagle Ford), offshore production in the Gulf of Mexico and international exploration. Eagle Ford and the Gulf provide strong cash flow and balance-sheet flexibility, while Bubale in the Côte d’Ivoire is seen as a near-term capital focus with an 18–24 month evaluation program. Lac Da Vang in Vietnam is intended to be funded from its own production; deeper offshore developments will only be advanced after a positive evaluation and a possible partner/financing decision. Murphy Oil has appointed Michol L. Ecklund, effective August 31, 2026, as senior vice president, chief legal officer and corporate secretary. Ecklund will oversee law, compliance, governance, government affairs, land management, sustainability and risk management, and will report to CEO Eric M. Hambly. The board of directors of Murphy Oil has approved a quarterly dividend of $0.35 per common share (annualized $1.40). The payment will be made on 1 September 2026 to shareholders of record on 17 August 2026.
