René Benko must answer at the Innsbruck regional court in two cases in which he is accused of having put assets aside in the period before the insolvency: a rent and operating-cost prepayment of around €360,000 and a gift of about €300,000 to his mother declared as a "loan repayment." Benko has been in pretrial detention since the beginning of the year and denies the allegations; the verdict could come as early as Wednesday. The estate administrators of Signa Development Selection (SDS) and Signa Prime Selection (SPS) are seeking nearly €126 million from KPMG Austria in an out-of-court liability conference over allegedly negligent annual audits. Around €72 million relates to SPS and €54.58 million to SDS; KPMG is accused of failing to identify illegal cash‑pooling, inflated rental payments and the associated revaluation gains.
